"I've been threatened a lot by phone, and my family, too. There are even motorcycles following my car on the streets. … I’m not going to another Brazilian club, but to a team from abroad is a different thing. I’m going to see what’s best for me."

-- Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos indicating he may leave Corinthians, whose fans attacked the team bus, damaged players' cars, painted the walls of the club’s headquarters with protest messages, and threatened the 2002 World Cup winner after a 2-0 loss to Colombia's Deportes Tolima in the Copa Libertadores. The Brazilian press has linked Roberto Carlos with the Los Angeles Galaxy, citing his friendship with David Beckham from their Real Madrid days. (AP)
