The USA fell to Spain, the defending champion, 3-1 in their opening match at the 2024 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Santo Domingo.

The USA recovered from own goal in just the third minute to equalize on a goal by San Diego Wave forward Melanie Barcenas in the 22nd minute.
