Under-20 Women’s World Cup: Spain wins battle of youth giants
Spain won its second Under-20 Women’s World Cup title when it beat defending champion North Korea 4-3 in a shootout after their match ended scoreless in the 2026 final. Spain won the 2022 World Cup championship after finishing second in 2018. North Korea won its third U-20 title in 2024. At the U-17 level, North Korea (2016, 2024 and 2025) and Spain (2018 and 2022) have won the last five world championships.

U.S. Under-17 Women’s World Cup roster
Head coach Ciara Crinion named the 21 players who will represent the USA at the Under-17 Women’s World Cup Oct. 17-Nov. 7 in Morocco. Loradana Paletta, who plays in NYCFC’s boys academy, is the youngest at age 15. Back with the team is forward Carolina Reyna, who will become the third member of her family to play in a U-17 World Cup after older brother Gio (2019) and her father Claudio (1989 when it was still a U-16 tournament).

Americans Abroad (Spain): Birthday boy Johnny Cardoso goes distance in Madrid derby win
Atlético Madrid’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid at the Metropolitano marked the first time in almost five months Cardoso has played 90 minutes.
