Top youth clubs from the greater Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas will this fall begin competing under the U.S. Club Soccer umbrella in the United Soccer Clubs (USC).

The USC Champions Leaguewill be the top level of competition in the league covering boys and girls, U-11 through U-18. Teams will compete for the opportunity to advance to US Club Soccer national championship events.

“When leaders from multiple clubs work together to change and improve the environment in which they compete, great things happen for the game,” US Club Soccer Executive Vice PresidentChristian Lavers said in a press release. “The vision and leadership shown by the Directors of Coaching in southern Texas in creating this new platform will have a hugelypositive impact on their players, teams and clubs.”

  1. Is this just marketing? What will be the measurable impact of this change? A change of league doesn’t really seem to make much of a difference at the player or club level…

  2. it’s not just a change in leagues. it’s an opportunity to for girls at premier level to play more games and better competition. this should should produce better results. for example, my daughters premier level team only played 5 league games all spring and only against Austin and San Antonio teams, leaving many parents wondering what the heck we were paying for. i applaud the clubs for trying to improve this situation.
