Bayer Leverkusen and AS Monaco, which both impressed in the UEFA Champions League last season, were paired with Lazio and Valencia, respectively, in the UCL playoffs draw in Nyon on Friday.Following the event, Leverkusen CEO Michael Schade said glumly, “I think we got the toughest draw possible but obviously we want to be in the group stage.” Other notable pairings seeManchester United against Belgian side Club Brugge, while Sporting Lisbon faces CSKA Moscow. The winners of each of the two-game series, held Aug. 18 and 26, qualify for the UCL group stage.
