This was supposed to be the simple group, the slam-dunk group, the start of a final, satisfying sendoff for Belgium’s “golden” generation that, to our primary interests, sets the scene for an anticipated rematch (since the draw!) with, should all go as planned, the U.S. (and back in Seattle!) come the round of 16.
