Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Everton put it into the final of the Capitol One Cup  (4-3 on aggregate), but the triumph was tempered by a knee injury to Belgian star Kevin de Bruyne. Citymanager Manuel Pellegrini thinks the 24-year-old de Bruyne, who scored one goal and set up another off the bench, will play again this season.

“I’m optimistic he won’t beout for the rest of the season,” Pellegrini said. “We’ll see how important the damage is. It’s not the cruciate ligament. The doctor thinks, but he cannot be sure, that it’s a problem in his medialligament. Kevin has been a very important player all season.”
