You might not think of Atlanta as a hotbed of support for Mexican soccer, but Mexico’s national team drew a crowd of 50,507 for its 2-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina on goals by Javier Hernandez and Edgar Pacheco Wednesday night at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, the first game under Chepo de la Torre.

Games involving Mexico and Club America attracted more than 100,000 fans in 2009 and a Club America-Manchester City exhibition drew more than 33,000 fanslast summer.

Before Wednesday’s game, a “Futbol Fiesta” in the Georgia World Congress Center welcomed thousands of fans.
