Roma captain Daniele de Rossi has signed a new two-year deal with the club, which will pay him $6.5 million a year, making him the highest paid player in Serie A. The announcementcomes three days after the retirement of Roma legend Francesco Totti.
“Totti’s departure has hurt us all,” said De Rossi, 33, who has played 561 games since his debut in2001. “I hope the fans will remain close to us.”
Totti made a club record 786 appearances.
