• Seattle Sounders will return 23 contracted players. The Sounders exercised the options on seven players — Josh Atencio, Abdoulaye Cissoko, Danny Leyva, Jordan Morris, Jackson Ragen, Dylan Teves and Andrew Thomas — to go with 16 players already guaranteed 2023 contracts. The contract options of Will Bruin and Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez were declined, while Jimmy Medranda is out of contract. Fredy Montero remains in active discussions with the Sounders, while Sam Adeniran (on loan to San Antonio FC) will have his status sorted out after the USL Championship playoffs. The Sounders’ 2023 season will begin with the FIFA Club World Cup, plans for which have yet to be announced.
