1. FIFA president Gianni Infantino has put plans for two global competitions on the agenda for this week’s FIFA Council meeting inKigali, Rwanda, reported the New York Times. Infantino was approached by Japan’s SoftBank, which has beeninterested in investing $25 billion over 12 years in an expanded Club World Cup and a FIFA-organized Nations League. Those plans have been fiercely opposed by UEFA. (The Public Investment Fund, theSaudi sovereign fund, has a 45 percent stake in SoftBank’s $100 billion Vision Fund.)
