FAMILY AFFAIR. Older sisters Alyssa and Kylie both had outstanding careers in at the youth level and in college. Their father, Dave, was a defensive lineman at Long Beach State and had atryout with the NFL’s Rams.

CAL SOUTH STUD. Makenzy, who plays her club ball for Slammers FC and at Ayala High School in Chino Hills, could be thebest of the three sisters. She was named the 2011 Cal South Player of the Year and helped Cal South win the ’94 girls title at the 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer ODP Championship with the tying goal in the90th minute of the final against New Jersey. In one of the great performances of the 2011 high school season in the CIF-Southern Section, Doniak scored four goals to give Chino Hills Ayala a 6-2 overeventual champion Bishop Amat to hand the Lancers their only loss of the season.

YOUTH TEAM FIXTURE. Doniak has been a fixture in the national youthteam program in the ’94 age group for three years. She was one of nine Californians on the U-18s who were training in Chula Vista, Calif., in early January. They are eligible for the 2012 Under-20Women’s World Cup, but they will more likely form the nucleus of the 2014 U.S. Under-20 Women’s World Cup team.

VIRGINIA-BOUND. Alyssa attended UCSanta Barbara and St. Mary’s (and is now back home teaching 6th grade at a private school), Kylie just finished his senior year at Texas, but the 5-foot-7 Makenzy is headed all the way to Virginia.She said things felt right about Virginia and turned down offers from such California schools as Stanford, UCLA and USC. She’ll be only one of two Californians on the Cavs’ roster. Shasta Fisher was a spot starter as a sophomore.
