For the second time in a month, a legitimate goal scored by AC Milan has been disallowed because match officials didn’t see the ball cross the goal line.

In response, AC Milan VicePresident Adriano Galliani has written an open letter to the Italian soccer federation calling for the use of extra referees behind each goal “as soon as possible.”

Milan lost a goal Saturday in a 1-1 draw at Catania when the referee judged Robinho’s strike had not crossed the line. The incident took place just over a month after aSulley Muntari headed “goal” was not given against Juventus.

Galliani acknowledged goalline technology “may face obstacles and not be accepted.” But he also saidthere’s “no reason why we can’t adopt the use of extra referees behind the goal too as used in the Champions League.”
