Portland Timbers make Vincent Janssen new center forward
The Portland Timbers have made 32-year-old forward Vincent Janssen their first Dutch signing in history, obtaining him on a two-year contract through the 2027-28 season via a free transfer. The Dutchman, who will step in for Felipe Mora, had 64 goals for Belgium’s Royal Antwerp over four seasons.

Sebastian Berhalter signs with Middlesbrough
USMNT midfielder Sebastian Berhalter has joined the English Championship’s Middlesbrough from the Vancouver Whitecaps. Berhalter was due to become a free agent at the end of 2026, so the reported $2 million fee and a percentage of any future transfer for Berhalter was decent business by the ‘Caps.

East romps in MLS Next All-Star Game

Gotham FC top scorer Esther Gonzalez returns to Spain
Spanish world champion Esther Gonzalez, Gotham FC’s all-time leading scorer, has temporarily stepped away from soccer to attend to personal matters in Spain. Esther, 33, scored the game-winner in the 2023 NWSL final. Gotham FC won a second title and the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup in 2025.
