Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez described Cristiano Ronaldo as “the best in the world” after the Portuguese forward netted five goals in Real’s 6-0win at Espanyol on Saturday. Benitez, who controversially compared Ronaldo to teammates Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez during pre-season, clarified those comments bysaying that he and Barcelona striker Lionel Messi stand alone as the world’s best: “To say that he is one of the best in the world I believe is sufficient. It is likeasking my daughter if she prefers my wife or me. The father or the mother. It’s not easy.”
