Bob Lilley remembers being a 5-year-old in Northern Virginia with ambitions to play American football. The family had been transferred there from Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where Lilley was born. Lilley’s father was serving the U.S. forces in Vietnam when his mother signed Bob up for soccer.
