Denis Chartier, who had spent 16 seasons in two stints on the Brown women’s soccer coaching staff, was found dead in a parked car in a commuter parking loton Saturday after being reported missing almost three weeks earlier.
Chartier had been last seen by his family members on the morning of Feb. 5 and then went to Foxwoods Casino inConnecticut. There was no evidence of criminal activity, according to Margaret Klawunn, Brown University’s vice president for campus life and studentservices.
Charter, 56, worked under Brown head coach Phil Pincince, a classmate at Woonsocket High School where they were both captains.
“Denis was a valued member of the Brown community for more than 15 years,” said Klawunn in an email to the Brown community. “He will be remembered for his commitment to coaching and for his manycontributions to soccer, athletics and campus life.”
