[U.S. YOUTH SOCCER] Carlsbad Elite became just the third club to win three or more divisional titles in the same season in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Leaguethat wrapped up its 2013-14 girls season Sunday at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.
Carlsbad’s U-14s, U-16s and U-17s were winners. Dallas Texans and Legends FC won fourdivision titles each in 2011-12.
“As a director, I’m very proud of our club,” said Michael Duggan, Carlsbad’s director of coaching,said after the U-16 squad clinched its second straight league title. “The under-17s winning out yesterday with a game to spare, which is absolutely fantastic. The Under-14s [winning the title], aswell. It’s a proud moment for us as a club.”
Beach FC Ingrassia’s U-18s became just the eighth team in National League history to win every one of its games in a season andthe fourth girls side to accomplish the feat. Beach also tied the record for goals in a season with 26, which was set in 2009-10 by Scorpions Elite and tied earlier this season by BRYC Elite.
Berths to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships July 21-27 in Germantown, Md., and guaranteed spots in the league next year were decided. Eight titles were not decided until the finalday of play.
All five defending national champions punched their ticket to Germantown: U-15 Eastside FC, U-16 Eclipse Elite Black, U-17 DMCV Sharks Elite won their respective divisiontitles, while U-14 Legends FC and U-18 Cleveland United White secured second-place finishes.
