• Toluca 4-2 LA Galaxy: Los Diablos Rojos, the first winners of consecutive Liga MX titles in two decades, were heavily favored against the Galaxy, victorious in just one of six MLS games, but they needed a third goal from Portuguese international Paulinho in the 85th minute to give them a two-goal cushion heading into the second leg in Carson. Twice the Galaxy had reduced the Toluca edge to one goal thanks to Gabriel Pec in the 66th minute and Marco Reus in the 77th minute.
