Scandal-ridden Conmebol has a new president. Alejandro Dominguez of Paraguay was elected on Tuesday and becomes the fourth president in three years for the governing body of South Americansoccer. The other three presidents were indicted by Federal authorities in the widespread corruption scandal.
Dominguez’s predecessor, countryman and close friend Juan AngelNapout, was arrested in Switzerland in December and agreed to be extradited to the United. Uruguayan was arrested in May but was extradited instead of Uruguay, where he also faces charges.Longtime chief Nicolas Leoz is under house arrest in Paraguay.
