* Kenny Cooper scored the Red Bulls’ goal in a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA on Wednesday to givehim 11 so far this season. Cooper scored eight goals for the Portland Timbers in 34 games last season. His best MLS production was in 2008, when he struck 18 times for FC Dallas.

* NewEngland’s French striker Saer Sene‘s goal in a 3-2 loss to D.C. United gives him five goals in his last five games and four in his last three. The 25-year-old is the leading scoreramong 2012 MLS newcomers.

* Maicon Santos came off the bench and scored the winner in D.C. United’s 3-2 victory over New England. He joined MLS in 2009 and scored twicebefore moving to Toronto in the middle of the 2010 season, which he finished with six goals. In 2011, in 30 games, he scored six goals for Toronto and two for Dallas before moving to D.C. United inthe offseason. The 28-year-old Brazilian now has seven goals in 13 games (10 starts) this season.

* Seattle’s David Estrada broke a 10-game scoreless streak when he notchedhis fifth of the season in a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA.

* MLS is averaging 2.56 goals in its first 120 games of the season. Last season ended with an average of 2.58, the second lowest inMLS history following the 2.46 produced in 2010.

* The New York Red Bulls are the highest scoring team, averaging 2.00 goals per game, followed by San Jose’s 1.93.

* Chivas USAis the lowest scoring team, managing just 0.69 goals per game.
