[UNDER-20 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP] Courtney Dike, a rising sophomore at Oklahoma State, set an Under-20 Women’s World Cup recordfor the fastest goal, scoring 18 seconds into Nigeria’s match against South Korea. She’ll miss the start of the women’s season against Oklahoma and Arkansas as the Super Falconets face North Korea inWednesday’s semifinals.

“That’s crazy,” Dike told FIFA.com when informed of therecord.  “It all happened so fast, even for me, to be honest.  They say it’s always good to test the opposing keeper early in a match, so I had a shot and it wentin.” 

Dike, whose brother Bright attended Notre Dame and plays for Toronto FC, was Oklahoma State’s top scorer in 2013 with 13 goals. The Edmond, Okla., product is one ofthree Cowgirls on the All-Big 12 preseason team.

Since then, Asisat Oshoala scored the second fastest goal in the history of the tournament, after32 seconds, in Nigeria’s 4-1 win over New Zealand in the quarterfinals.
