[MLS TRANSACTIONS] After just 17 games — all starts — the Columbus Crew transferred Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalezto Palermo of the Italian Serie A. Details of the deal were not disclosed but it is believed to be one of the most lucrative transfer deals an MLS club has ever conducted. The Crew signedGonzalez from Valerenga in the preseason, and his value skyrocketed after a strong World Cup for the Ticos.
