[AMERICANS ABROAD] Clint Dempsey scored his first goal for Tottenham as it won its first game at Manchester United inalmost a quarter century, winning a 3-2 thriller. Spurs had not beaten United in 11 years but jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and made it 3-1 on Dempsey’s goal. Goalkeeper Brad Friedel preserved the win with a string of late saves.
