Spain coach Vicente del Bosque left Brazilian-born Diego Costa out of his team for its last two Euro 2016 qualifyingmatches. Costa, who has a one-match suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, was not eligible for the first game against Luxembourg on Oct. 9.
Del Bosque chose not to call him in for thesecond game three days later against Ukraine. “He’s not playing badly,” Del Bosque said of Costa, adding Spain would “count on him in the future, if everything goes normally.” Costa is also serving athree-match club ban in England for an incident during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Arsenal.
“I did not like what I saw,” Del Bosque said of that incident in which Costa put his hands in the face ofdefender Laurent Koscielny. “I did not like what he did, of course not.”
