[USA-ECUADOR] Landon Donovan‘s national team career is over, and the final tally is157 appearances, a record 57 goals and a record 58 assists. It was almost 58 goals as Donovan hit the post in his farewell game for the USA, a 1-1 tie with Ecuador in East Hartford, Connecticut. Hewas playing so well Jurgen Klinsmann left him in for 41 minutes before he was subbed off, longer than the 30 minutes initially planned. Asked what Klinsmanntold him as he went off, Donovan deadpanned, “He told me he should have taken me to Brazil.”
