[CLUB WORLD CUP] Jose Francisco Torres started and fellow U.S. World Cup midfielder Herculez Gomez came off the bench for Mexico’s Pachuca in its 1-0 loss to TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mazembe went ahead in the 21st minute on a goal byMbenza Bedi and held off Pachuca despite finishing with 10 players after the ejection of Zambian Stoppila Sunzu withnine minutes to play.
Pachuca’s best chance came two minutes before Bedi’s goal when Alejandro Manso‘s shot hit the inside of the post and crossedthe front of the goal line before being cleared away.
Colombian Mauricio Molina scored the first goal and set up two others to lead South Korea’sSeongnam Ilhwa Chunma to a 4-1 win over Al-Wahda of the host United Arab Emirates in Saturday’s only game.
