Having succeeded in her first challenge as U.S. head coach, guiding the USA to gold last summer in France, Emma Hayes now enters a new phase in her American journey. Her “27-28 Strategy” is underway with three October friendlies. Hayes, born and raised in England, served as Arsenal’s academy director and coached Chelsea’s women’s team for a dozen years, in 2012-24, before taking the U.S. helm last May. But Hayes arrived deeply familiar with American soccer, thanks to coaching stints at various levels in the USA in 2002-05 and 2008–2010.
