The 2020 European Championship will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC,which will carry all 51 matches played across 12 European cities.
Euro 2020:
ESPN will televise 39 matches, whileESPN2 will air seven and ABC will broadcast five matches (two group stage matches, two round of 16 and one quarterfinal).
The last time the European Championship was shown on ABC was in2008.
Every match telecast will feature a 30-minute pregame, halftime and postgame reaction. Euro Tonight will air each matchday following the last match of the day on ESPN or ESPN2.
Univision holds Spanish-language rights to the tournament.
All hail (not quite like the recent Van Basten quote) the great Disney–the true network champion of soccer since…well, since some executive pulled their coat-tail about the (gasp) financial windfall that televised world football provides. I’m sure they’re signing on for the next five Copas America, too. Right? Riiight. Better to follow USSF’s eurocentric lead on that one.
Don’t expect much of a televised ‘postgame reaction’ if university throwball needs to kickoff (I guess it’ll be during the early summer, but you get the idea). Or if auto racing highlights need to be shown. Or the Go Fish championship…
