1. Conmebol again rejected a U.S. Soccer proposal to organize a 16-team Americans tournament in 2020, announcing it has awarded the 2020Copa America to Argentina and Colombia. The 2019 Copa America will take place this summer in Brazil, but Conmebol wants to shift the quadrennial tournament to even years in line with the organizationof the European Championship. Conmebol is expected to expand the Copa America from 12 to 16 teams in 2020 and invite the USA and Mexico. One issue is that clubs aren’t required by FIFA to releaseplayers on guest teams.
