1. Conmebol has turned down U.S. Soccer’s proposal to host a lucrative 16-team Americas tournament in 2020. The South Americanconfederation has wanted to move its quadrennial Copa America to even years, beginning in 2020. Those plans were cited as one of the reasons for rejecting the proposal even though no host country fora 2020 Copa America has been named.
