France World Cup 2010 captain Patrice Evra‘s suspension is up, but there’s still no place for him in the Bleus’ squad. France coach Laurent Blanc didn’t recall the Manchester United defender for Wednesday’s friendly against Brazil at Stade de France.
Evra was suspended for five games for his role in thestrike of French players at training during the World Cup in South Africa. In the first game for which Evra is eligible for selection, Blanc chose Barcelona’s EricAbidal and Arsenal’s Gael Clichy.
“It is a sporting choice, and only a sporting choice” Blanc said, noting Abidal’s recent form at Barca.”There is a lot of competition for places in that position.”
