Reminiscent of WikiLeaks, a website known as Football Leaks had published numerous secret documents with the intent of exposing the often murky world of soccer finances. At the heart of the matter isthe practice of third-party ownership, used by teams to purchase high-priced players with the help of money from speculators. As of result of agreements with investment fund Doyen Sports exposedby Football Leaks, Dutch club FC Twente has been banned from UEFA competitionsuntil 2019.
