In the first leg of the Tottenham-Inter Milan Champions League series, Gareth Bale had all three Spurs goals, albeit in a losing effort. In Tuesday’s returnmatch, Bale didn’t score but did everything else but score in a brilliant effort that had Inter Milan right back Maicon, arguably the best player in his playerat his position, chasing shadows.
Gale assisted on goals for Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko in Spurs’3-1 win that moved it into first place in its group. “Everyone is so scared of Bale,” said Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp. “Maicon is the best right back inthe world. But Gareth killed him.”
“I just feel confident on the ball at the moment,” said Bale. “The team is playing well and it allowed Aaron Lennon and myself to run atdefenders. I’m enjoying every minute of my game. I always knew what I was capable of but the difference now is I am being given the chance to learn my trade in training. The team as a whole havelearned so much too by playing in Europe.”
