Gervinho on Monday completed a $10.6 million plus performance-related bonuses move from Arsenal to AS Roma. The move reunites the Ivory Coast international with his former Lillecoach Rudy Garcia, who took over at the Stadio Olimpico earlier this summer.
“Gervinho had been dreaming of Serie A for at least three years,”agent Pascal Boisseau told Calciomercato.com. “In the summer of 2010, then-Roma director general Daniele Pradè wanted him in thecapital, while the club also made a proposal last year.”
Gervinho never quite settled at Arsenal, which he joined in July 2011 from Lille for $16 million, scoring 11 goals in 63 gamesin all competitions. “Garcia very strongly wanted him,” Boisseau added. “He spoke directly to the player and when I met with the Roma directors it didn’t take long tounderstand this was his big opportunity.”
