Almost a decade after playing on Puebla’s reserve team, Herculez Gomez is back with the first team in Mexico’s First Division. His move follows seven seasonsin MLS, most recently with the Kansas City Wizards.
“It’s been awhile since soccer has been fun,” Gomez says. “I’m living my dream and I hope to give a lot to the people of Puebla.” Hescored in his first start for Puebla a week ago. “Soccer is a lot more technical, a lot more touching the ball,” he says. “But this team is different than a lot of Mexican teams. We have a lot ofheart and a lot of bite and it’s pretty cool being on a team like that.”
Gomez is only the latest MLS player to find a home at Puebla. Former FC Dallas captain Duilio Davino, ex-Rapid Daniel Osorno and former FC Dallas and Chivas USA midfielder Ramon Nunez were onla Franja when it made the Apertura 2009 playoffs, while Puebla is also the home of former MLS scoring ace Carlos Ruiz.
