Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s German Super Cup clash with fierce rival Borussia Dortmund, Pep Guardiola says that only “eight or nine” ofBayern’s first-team players are fully fit due to so many returning late from the World Cup, including captain Philip Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, ThomasMueller and Arjen Robben.
“Last summer, my players were fitter for the Super Cup,” the Spaniard told reporters on Tuesday. “This time I onlyhave eight or nine players that are fully fit — no more. The world champions have trained well, but they need time. I’m happy that I have six world champions. After training today, I will talk to theplayers then decide who can play and for how long.
He added: “This is not a friendly game, though, this is a final. We’re playing to win.”
