It’s been a rough winter for Thierry Henry following his infamous handball incident during the France-Ireland World Cup 2010 qualifier. His form has droppedat Barcelona, and French fans booed him during France’s 2-0 loss to Spain at the Stade de France on Wednesday.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola backedthe 32-year-old French captain, though. “We need him,” the Barcelona coach said. “Without him we would never have got six titles [in 2009] and without him it will be harder this year.” Henry scored 25goals in all competitions in 2008-09, but he has only three goals so far this season after losing his starting job to 22-year-old Pedro.
“If he does not play it is, amongother things, because maybe there are players in better form than him,” Guardiola told the club’s official website.”He is conscious that he has to improve and I think that he knows what he is doing. Iwant him to have the same desire that he has always had. I am sure that he will be back to his best in the next couple of months.”
