As was largely expected, former Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes, who led the club to an historic treble of the German Bundesliga, German Cup, and UEFA Champions League in 2013,was named the FIFA Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year. The other two finalists were former Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson and Borussia Dortmund’s JurgenKlopp.

“It means a lot to pick up an award right at the end of my career,” said Heynckes, who announced hisretirement last summer. “I want to thank everybody who pulled together to help me to produce this winning team. Ten years ago, I probably wouldn’t even have dreamt of this. I’m humbled and happy to bestanding here.”

Heynckes becomes the fourth winner of the prestigious award following Vicente del Bosque in 2012, Pep Guardiola in 2011, and JoseMourinho in 2010.
