Former Honduras president Rafael Callejas and former interim Concacaf president Alfredo Hawithave been banned from soccer for life by FIFA’s ethics committee after they pleaded guilty toFederal racketeering and wire fraud conspiracy charges earlier this year.
Both Hondurans took bribes from marketing companies over the awarding of commercial rights for World Cup qualifyingmatches in Honduras.
Hawit is the third former Concacaf president to get a life ban. Callejas was Honduras president for four years (1990-94) and a member of FIFA’s marketing and TV committeewhen he was indicted.
