Italian national team coach Marcello Lippi invited 29 players to attend a training camp in Rome on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will give him one last chance tolook at players before the World Cup.
Among the six strikers called in were Marco Borriello and GiampaoloPazzini, who have enjoyed good seasons with AC Milan and Sampdoria, respectively. The most notable omission was Brazilian-born Amauri, who hoped to getpicked after obtaining Italian citizenship in April. Nine other Juventus players were selected.
The only candidates not picked were players from Inter Milan and Roma, which meet in theCoppa Italia final on Wednesday, and American-born Giuseppe Rossi, who plays in Spain for Villarreal.
