[W-LEAGUE] UCLA star Sarah Killion had a goal and two assists and Bayern Munich-bound Katie Stengel scored twice to lead the LA Blues to a 6-1 win over the Washington Spirit Reserves in the W-League final Sunday at IMG Academy Stadium. The title was the fourth for theBlues, who captured championships as the Pali Blues in 2008, 2009 and 2013.
“At the end of the day, players win championships, and this is probably one of the best rostersI’ve ever had in my career,” Blues manager Charlie Naimo said. “Not just talent-wise, but the way they became a team. I’m going to missthe hell out of this group.”
Killion, who will be a senior at UCLA and has trained with the women’s national team, was named W-League Championship MVP.
Mele French, Caprice Dydasco, who also plays at UCLA, and Paige Nielsen alsoscored for the Blues. It was 4-0 before Katie Yensen scored for Washington in the 74th minute.
