LAFC became the first MLS team to be mathematically eliminated from the Club World Cup when it lost its second game, falling to Tunisia’s Espérance 1-0.

Dénis Bouanga, whose late penalty kick sent LAFC into the Club World Cup with a 2-1 win over Mexico’s Club América in a play-in game on May 31, had a chance to equalize for LAFC but had his penalty kick saved by keeper Bechir Ben Saïd in the 11th minute of stoppage time.
