[MLS] Luis Gil, arguably the most talented teenager to sign with MLS since Jozy Altidore, went to theKansas City Wizards during a weighted lottery conducted by the league on Monday.

The 16-year-old Californian starred on the 2009 U.S. Under-17 World Cup team and had been targeted byArsenal. There has been speculation that Gil would prefer to play closer to home, in which a trade would have to me arranged.

The Wizards had the third-best chance of winning the lottery. The only teams with poorer records last season were New York and San Jose.

  1. Here is another teenager’s career the MLS will do everything to screw up. They already did such a terrific job with Freddy Adu I guess they deserve another try!

  4. If he doesn’t fancy Kansas (and who can blame him!!) I would love to see this lad start his career at San Jose!

  7. Watch it, Mike. No need to insult my fine city or my lads. But in regard to the young blood; he’s still not a man, and if he MUST play close to home, then let him. I’d rather trade for a 1st rounder or a foreign slot in that case. But I hope he is indeed better than Altidore.
