Galatasaray has signed Roberto Mancini to a three-year deal as its new head coach, the Turkish giant confirmed on Monday. The Italian tactician replaces FatihTerim, who was subsequently fired after failing to agree a new deal with the club. Mancini most recently led Manchester City to the FA Cup and Premier League titles in his three seasons incharge of the wealthy Premier League giant before being fired for failing to win any trophies in his final season. He faces the tall task of replacing Terim, an iconic figure who won six Turkishleague titles in three different spells as Galatasaray manager.
Gala has had a rough start to the season, having won just one of its first five games in the Turkish league. It also beganthe UEFA Champions League season with a 6-1 loss at home to Real Madrid.
Ironically, Mancini’s first game in charge of the Istanbul club will be tomorrow’s Champions LeagueGroup B clash at Juventus Stadium. “It is a happy coincidence to meet the Bianconeri first and it is a great challenge to prepare for this game in just one day,”
