Matt Turner is happy to be back home.

He is happy to have the support of his family and his in-laws.

And he is happy to have the support of his extended family in New England, the Revs and their fans.

Turner spent three seasons in England, playing regularly for only part of one season, and lost his starting job in goal for the USMNT at the 2025 Gold Cup after starting in 2021 and 2023.

To make matters worse, a move to Lyon imploded when the French club made it clear that even if was contractually obligated to fulfill the terms of the transfer agreement its former management reached with Nottingham Forest, it did not rate him as a starter.

“It was a trying time,” Turner said. “It was difficult to be in limbo for a while.”

The 31-year-old keeper credited the Revs with keeping in touch with his agent about a possible return. He was in Foxboro for the Revs’ match against Inter Miami four days after the Gold Cup final and was blown away by the reception.
