One of the most debated officiating decisions so far this season is a red card issued to Impact midfielder Marco Donadel in a 2-0 loss to the L.A. Galaxy last Friday, and on Thursday theIndependent Panel that reviews such rulings upheld the action taken by referee Armando Villarreal.
Shortly before halfime, Donadel used his right elbow and forearm to shield Jermaine Jones from theball, and though struck in the chest, Jones went down holding his face. Villarreal was sent off in the 44th minute. Jones recovered quickly and later scored the winning goal.
