The LA Galaxy has lost Uruguayan defender Martín Caceres for 3-5 months after he underwent surgery on an avulsion fracture he recently suffered in his left knee. Caceres, 36, joined the Galaxy in August 2022 and went to his fourth World Cup with La Celeste three months later. He has been the lone veteran on a backline that has featured 19-year-old Jalen Neal at center back and Brazilian Lucas Calegari, 20, and Argentine Julian Aude, 20, at the outside back positions. Caceres won one LaLiga title with Barcelona and six Serie A titles with Juventus.
