Miami wins the Supporters’ Shield
There were tons of expectations weighing on Inter Miami ahead of this MLS season.
After failing to make the playoffs the year prior, there was a lot of pressure on Tata Martino and his aging core of players to win trophies and even rewrite history. The Supporters’ Shield, many thought, would be the hardest for them to win—Copa America ran through the middle of the season, the Barcelona veterans weren’t getting any younger, and their backline lacked talent. But despite all of that, including Lionel Messi’s two-month injury, the Herons climbed the regular season mountaintop and won the damn thing.
