David Moyes on Sunday admitted that he had always wondered how to “possibly get a result” against Barcelona after Real Sociedad’s surprise 1-0 win at home to the Catalangiant on Sunday. A second-minute Jordi Alba own-goal was all that La Real needed as its brave defense stopped Barca from going top of La Liga following Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss at Valenciaearlier in the day.
“The win feels similar to the early days at Everton,” Moyes said after the game, his first against Barca as a coach. “We’ve talked about Barcelona at my past clubs,at Everton and at Manchester United. I’ve watched them with admiration and we used to wonder how to possibly get a result against them. Tonight I had the opportunity; it was a long night, we scoredearly and I would like to have given them a harder game. We did make it very difficult for them, though.”
The win moved Moyes & Co., up to 13th in the Spanish first division. TheScot has now registered two wins, three draws and one loss in his first six games in charge of the Basque side.
